I decided to take some pictures of my painted models today.

Well, here's the result: the bowmen for my Cornwall army.

And bigger picture of a random bowman:

They're on temporary bases for painting, I'll do the basing for the whole army someday.
I can make more closeups if requested. And I'll make some pics of the billmen when I'm in the mood.

I like the uniform variation much more historically accurate

Thanks guys!
I think I'll give my next unit of bowmen even more variety. Different heads maybe.

Thanks Bonifacius!

Some billmen as promised:
The men of Sir Thomas de Gorney, a knight who actually lived in Dorset or Somerset around 1309. They will serve in the Cornwallian army.

The coat of arms of Sir Thomas de Gorney (Ex-Illis styled :geek: ). And some close-ups for good measure.

I hope to paint some more during the Christmas holidays. We'll see.. :P

Thanks for all the kind comments! ;)

I've been painting again the last few weeks. I finished all but one of the villeins.

Wow! I admire your work ;) .
And one of these villeins (we call them "Vidláci" or "Šupáci" in our Czech Republic community of Ex-illis... Currently four active players :) Funny words. I think that it means rednecks in english) has a cool red hat! :D

Thanks guys!

I try to get as much variety in the units as my modelling skills and the Ex Illis parts allow, to keep it realistic and believable.

It is my favourite as well. The villeins are a blast to convert into little characters.

I painted some more, again billmen:
The men of Sir Estevene de Haccombe, again a knight from Cornwall who lived in 1309.

And two more minores, bald headed this time:

And a group shot of the barefoot brothers: :D

Next up: two billmen loyal to Sir Geffrey de Aubemarle. ;)

I've decided to include some work in progress models, even though this topic is called "Oh look, some painted models!" :o

I got a little "frankenstein" on the rest of my longbowmen. The result: legs from the vileins, all sorts of heads and some sculpted coifs. The six men on the front got a make-over using mangonel, serjants and mendicum parts.
Image

I also finnished the missing vilein:

The billmen I promised to show are waiting for the final details. Painting small crosses proves to be more difficult than expected.

I just wanted to say that these are really nice. I was doing my best not to direct any of my painting attention towards Ex Illis since things are sort of up in the air, but this thread has all but convinced me to work on some new models.

Thank you MathMatt!
I'm happy to be an inspiration to you, and hopefully to more people still around. :)

On to the inspiring pictures:
This time the billmen loyal to Sir Geffrey de Aubemarle.

Painting the crosses drove me nuts, It took me more than 5 layers of paint. But it looks good from the tabletop.

And of course a groupshot of the finished billmen:

Let me know what you think. ;)

Time for an other update! :)

The remaining 4 Minores are finished, front and back pics as usual:

And a shot of all the spiritual brothers:

Let me know what you think. ;)

Go ahead MadNes. Sir Thomas de Gorney will be proud, join the striped legion! :D

More painted bowmen in the next update, just need some time and light to take the pics.
